Professional Learning Day

Overview for March 6, 2026

Join us on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM for a hybrid Professional Learning Day.

This day is designed to build stronger connections across school sites and the district, aligning our efforts to improve student outcomes. 

We appreciate the staff feedback that led to a day intentionally designed around: 

  • Building stronger school site and district connections, coherence and alignment in service of student outcomes.

  • For elementary, deepening our understanding of behavioral supports, literacy development and math instruction.

  • For secondary, strengthening guaranteed and viable curriculum implementation and instructional strategies.

Time Activity
8:00 AM - 12:00 PM Morning Sessions: Level-specific meetings (locations below).
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Travel & Lunch: Transition to home site; lunch provided.
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Afternoon Sessions: Site-based professional learning at home sites.
  • Lunch: Panera salads provided by ISS and delivered to your home site at 12:00 PM (vegan/vegetarian options available).

  • Travel: Return to your home site for afternoon sessions. Mileage reimbursement is available for travel from morning locations.

  • Childcare: Not available through NVUSD or the Boys and Girls Club.


 

Primary AM Schools and Locations


We are excited to offer school-site selected sessions for elementary staff. You will be joined by your Principals throughout the morning sessions.

  • TK teachers will spend the full day (8:00-3:00) together at the Ed Center in the Technology Building. 
  • Elementary PE teachers will take part in PE specific professional learning with their secondary colleagues in the morning in the Vintage High School Gym and return to their home sites in the afternoon.

Secondary AM Subjects and Locations


We are excited to offer content-specific sessions for secondary staff. You will be joined by your Principals and/or Assistant Principals throughout the morning session with the content team that they support throughout the year.

Role-Specific Information

  • Counselors, Social Workers, Speech and Language Pathologists, and School Psychologists will attend the Wellness Conference. 
  • Education Specialists will be included in the morning professional learning sessions and will be assigned to one of their school sites for the afternoon.  Site administrators have been advised by Terri Lynne regarding which Education Specialists will be at their sites.
  • Instructional Aides are invited to participate and will be compensated for their time through the ISS supplemental account line.
  • Assistive Technology​ staff and Low Incidence​ staff​ will receive separate communication from the District Special Education Department with details specific to their professional learning.
  • Campus Safety Specialists will have training in De-escalation and Replacement Behaviors at Shearer Elementary School from 8:30 A.M to 12P.M.  Lunch can be picked up at the district office. The Campus Specialist will then report to Adult School (Room 9) at 1pm for additional training on Fire Extinguishers and Understanding of Comprehensive School Safety Plans: CSSP Alignment: ICS Roles & Structure, Site Maps & Evacuation Routes, and Identification of Campus Vulnerabilities.
