Napa Valley Language Academy (NVLA) brought a splash of color and culture to Napa’s Día de los Muertos celebration. Eighty students, from Kindergarten to fifth grade, showcased their talents in Ballet Folklórico, under the expert guidance of Maestra Kena. The students’ colorful costumes, designed in part by Leo Fernandez, were a visual delight. As Amelia explained, “I’m extremely excited to go because I love the passion of dancing in front of a ton of people, it makes other people happy, and it makes me happy.” Joshua echoed her sentiment, sharing, “We’re extremely excited because this is only once every single year, and we’re happy we’ve been participating for four years.” Their enthusiasm was palpable as they performed in the Amphitheater in Veterans Memorial Park to a large crowd who gathered to enjoy the day’s festivities, captivating the audience with their grace and energy.
