2025 Graduate Reggie Ellison

NVUSD

Reggie’s journey through NVUSD began at Browns Valley Elementary, continued through Phillips and River Middle School, and led to New Tech—a “natural progression,” he says, because of its close-knit community and project-based learning approach. “I like project-based learning a lot,” he shared. “It’s helped me learn in ways that really stick.”

Expanding Horizons Through STEM and Environmental Science
Reggie’s passions came to life in robotics and environmental science. He joined the Napa Cellar Rats 6918 robotics team in 9th grade, leading to regional competitions and hands-on experience in machine tool tech. Thanks to the support of his school leaders, he later helped transition the team to New Tech, opening new opportunities for future students.

Through dual enrollment at Napa Valley College, Reggie discovered his love for environmental science. A Wildlife Biology course helped cement his interest in ecology and sustainability—fields he plans to pursue in college.

Leadership, Mentorship, and Public Service
With support from teachers like Christie Wolf and mentors like Mr. Biggs and Principal Dev, Reggie embraced the sciences and leadership, including the Mike Thompson Student Leadership Council and UC Berkeley’s pre-college program. These experiences shaped his vision for advocacy and public service.

This fall, Reggie heads to UC Berkeley to major in Environmental Economics and Policy, with plans to focus on workers’ rights, housing, and environmental regulations. “I really enjoy working with people,” he shared. “One day, I might even run for council.”

As he prepares to work at Aim High Napa this summer, Reggie credits his mom—teacher Jennifer Ellison—for her constant encouragement. “She’s always been my biggest supporter.”

Reggie’s journey illustrates NVUSD’s commitment to rigorous, real-world learning and building future-ready leaders who give back. We’re proud to celebrate all that he’s achieved—and all that lies ahead.
