Napa Valley Unified School District Celebrates School Board Recognition Month

NVUSD

The Napa Valley Unified School District is proud to join more than 1,000 local educational agencies in the state in recognizing the contributions of board members during School Board Recognition Month. As schools work to provide an equitable education to all students and support student wellness post-pandemic, board members play a key role in setting the foundation, policies, and priorities to support optimal student outcomes. They are also a vital link between the school district and the community.

The Board of Education sets the foundation and vision for the district, directs resources where they are most needed, establishes annual priorities, and ensures accountability to the community by monitoring progress toward goals. Their end goal, of course, is to support and elevate student achievement through effective student-centered governance.

During the past few years, the Napa Valley Unified Board of Education has worked to:

  • Provide fiscal stewardship and led the district to fiscal solvency through persisting declining enrollment
  • Establish a commitment to literacy, math improvement, and career readiness
  • Support the passage of two school bonds to modernize schools in American Canyon and Napa
  • Focus on creating better conditions for improved teaching, learning, and student achievement
  • Ensure NVUSD students have access to state-of-the-art technology
  • Advocate for students in TK-12 public school systems at the national and statewide levels

“I am grateful to NVUSD’s hard-working board members who make tremendous sacrifices, demonstrate incredible amounts of courage, and lead through times of opportunity and challenge,” shared NVUSD Superintendent Dr. Rosanna Mucetti. “As a superintendent, I know how privileged and honored I am to work with a governance team that has a laser-like focus on improving the educational experiences as well as the outcome for all students.”

The Napa Valley Unified School District board members are President Eve Rsyer, Trustee Lisa Chu, Trustee Elba Gonzalez-Mares, Trustee Julianna Hart, Trustee Robin Jankiewicz, Trustee Cindy Watter, and newly elected Trustee John Henry Martin.
