Napa Valley Unified School District Nears Completion of Measure B Phase II Upgrades Ahead of August 12 School Opening

Construction teams are putting the finishing touches on Phase II of Measure B facility upgrades in preparation for the first day of the 2026–2027 school year, Wednesday, August 12.

Following a highly successful Measure B Phase I, which delivered major roofing and climate control enhancements under budget, Phase II has made significant progress over the summer months. This summer, improvements were completed at 14 NVUSD campuses with projects ranging from exterior painting and HVAC and roof replacements to parking lot paving. The majority of these upgrades were funded through Measure B.

“We are excited to welcome our students and staff back on August 12 to safer and more comfortable school campuses," said NVUSD Superintendent Dr. Rosanna Mucetti. "Measure B reflects our community's shared investment in our students. This work directly supports Vision 2040 by cultivating inspiring spaces where every student can learn and grow. Thank you to Napa voters for making these important investments in our schools possible."

Phase II projects took place over the summer break to minimize disruption to learning, focusing improvements to meet the specific needs of each campus while establishing consistent quality across all NVUSD facilities. Work included:

Replacing deteriorating roofs, modernizing HVAC systems to improve indoor air quality and climate control, and completing essential plumbing and electrical updates.
Painting exterior school facilities.
Upgrading fire alarm systems where needed and improving campus paths of travel to meet modern ADA accessibility standards.
Resurfacing play yards, preparing grounds for the installation of new playgrounds, and completing paving projects across grounds where needed.

"We take our role as stewards of taxpayer dollars very seriously," said NVUSD Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operational Services Rob Mangewala. "Our facilities team and construction partners worked tirelessly throughout the summer to ensure Phase II milestones were met efficiently and on schedule. Our schools will be ready for the start of school, with some small projects continuing into the fall."

“Measure A2 transformed our schools in American Canyon," said NVUSD Board President Dr. Lisa Chu. “That transformation is really coming to life in Napa as we near the end of Phase II. Our Napa schools are better than ever!"

Note: Solar has been installed recently at Vichy, Snow, Canyon Oaks, Napa Junction, Willow, Unidos, McPherson, Donaldson Way, Shearer, NVLA, Memorial Stadium, Northwood, Pueblo Vista, and Browns Valley.
