NVUSD Celebrates Outgoing Board President Eve Ryser, Welcomes Dr. Lisa Chu

NVUSD

The Napa Valley Unified School District recognized the leadership and service of Board President Eve Ryser during her final meeting in that capacity on December 11, 2025. Trustee Ryser has been an invaluable member of the NVUSD Board since December 2020, and her tenure as President has been marked by a deep commitment to high-quality instruction and community engagement.

Trustee Ryser’s dedication stems from her extensive background in education. As a parent whose children attended NVUSD from kindergarten through 12th grade, she brought a firsthand understanding of the student and family experience. Prior to her service on the Board, her career included 15 years as a public elementary school teacher and five years as an education research specialist and curriculum developer at UC Berkeley. She also contributed locally through the Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council and the Napa High School Site Council.

“We are deeply grateful for the exceptional leadership of Board President Eve Ryser,” shared NVUSD Superintendent Dr. Rosanna Mucetti. “Her experience as a teacher and parent, combined with her commitment to evidence-based curriculum and strong governance, has been transformative for our district. We thank her for her willingness to engage, explore, and advocate for student success. We are thankful for her insightful perspective and passion at the helm of the Board, and we are fortunate she will continue her service.”

A professional learning specialist who delivers curriculum-focused professional development sessions to educators nationwide, Trustee Ryser holds a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University, a multiple-subject teaching credential, and an M.A. in Education from Mills College.

Dr. Lisa Chu will assume the role of Board President, effective December 11, 2025. We look forward to welcoming President Chu to this leadership role as she continues to support NVUSD as we build on our strategic goals.
