NVUSD Family Newsletter: Shaping Our Future–Enrollment, Visioning, Learning and Recognition
Exciting news for our school district! We are transforming the traditional advisory period in middle and high school! This intervention model combines the structure of the study hall with the personalized support of targeted academic intervention. We call it "Flex'' and all NVUSD middle schools will have launched this model by the first week of November. Here's how it works: the day before the Flex period, students receive an email notifying them of their assigned class for the following day. On the day of Flex, teachers use the Edficiency program to record attendance. Then they can provide targeted support to the students they invited. If a student is not invited by a teacher to Flex they attend their regular advisory class. This flexible learning period is one way we are ensuring academic success for all!
NVUSD’s Board of Education recognizes students each month who have shown exemplary scholarship, citizenship, and school/community service. Students are selected by their school principal and are honored at a public board meeting. For September and October, Valley Oak named Alejandro Meza Barragan and Christopher Acosta Ramirez as students of the month. Napa Valley Independent Studies named Tabitha Harrington and Bianca McEntire. For more information and to view all the previous Student of the Month superstars, visit nvusd.org/board.
You play an important role in the success of our students….We want to hear from you! As you know, NVUSD officially kicked off its district-wide visioning and strategic planning process this summer; the process will result in a strategic vision and plan. However, before we get there, we need to hear from you! One of the easiest ways to provide your feedback is by attending an upcoming Open House event in American Canyon on November 1 and Napa on November 4. Click here for details and to RSVP. We are excited to co-design this vision with our community - for all our children.
This Fall, Superintendent Dr. Rosanna Mucetti is hosting two in-person meetings from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. with parents throughout the district. She will host the first at Napa High on Tuesday, October 24. On Tuesday, November 14 she will host the event at Donaldson Way Elementary School. These meetings are open for all to attend. Let us know what you would like to discuss and when you plan to attend by filling out this Google Form.
