NVUSD Welcomes New Area 5 Board of Education Trustee John Henry Martin

The Napa Valley Unified School District (NVUSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of John Henry Martin to the Board of Trustees, representing Area 5. Martin was officially sworn in on December 19, 2024. 

A dedicated secondary educator, Martin brings with him a passion and desire for improving education. Martin has a diverse background in law, banking, and nursing. He is a pianist, writer, meditation teacher, and opera lover. He is currently an English teacher at Mare Island Technology Academy Middle School in Vallejo. Martin expressed his excitement about working with Superintendent Dr. Rosanna Mucetti and the board as he begins a new chapter in his life sharing, “I very much look forward to joining the board and Dr. Mucetti in the amazing work that they are doing to make NVUSD a premier school district in California.” Martin also shared his optimism about the growth such an opportunity provides and his commitment to providing all students with a great education.

“We welcome John Henry Martin to the NVUSD Board of Trustees as he begins his service to Area 5,” said Dr. Rosanna Mucetti, NVUSD Superintendent. “His passion for education will be incredibly valuable as we continue to provide the highest-quality education for our students, staff, and families.”

A seventeen-year resident of Napa, Martin resides with his partner of 22 years.

Additional governing board transitions include: Eve Ryser assuming the role of president, Lisa Chu assuming the role of vice president, and Elba Gonzalez-Mares assuming the role of clerk.
