Chris Ready

NVUSD’s Napa Operative for School Food Health (NOSH) team brought holiday cheer to students across the district on Thursday, November 21 with a delicious, homemade Thanksgiving meal prepared by NOSH kitchen staff. Staff served a record-breaking 9,444 meals!

The special meal featured a festive menu, which included roasted locally sourced turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, harvest quinoa salad with squash, homemade cornbread, from scratch cranberry sauce, and cookies. NOSH’s dedicated team cooked over an entire week and prepared over 10,000 cornbread muffins, cookies, and servings of their tasty offerings.

“The Thanksgiving meal was a really special treat,” said Kristen Tekell, Director II of Food Service. “Seeing our students enjoy this delicious meal together brought joy to our staff and school communities. Its success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, who provide nutritious and delicious meals to our students each day.”

NOSH typically serves over 7,000 breakfast and 7,000 lunch meals daily, ensuring NVUSD students have the fuel they need to succeed in their learning journeys. Tekell closed by sharing, “We are incredibly grateful for our staff’s service, their care, and, of course, for the wonderful food they prepare and serve.”

“Our NVUSD community is incredibly grateful to the NOSH team for their tireless efforts in providing exceptional and healthy food to our students,” shared Superintendent Dr. Rosanna Mucetti. “We have caring, committed staff members who do so much for our students. We are thankful for our food service staff, and all our staff members who work tirelessly, each day, in service of our children.”
