Silverado Middle School Named One of America’s Healthiest Schools 2026

The national children’s health organization, Alliance for a Healthier Generation, has named Silverado Middle School to its 2026 list of America’s Healthiest Schools. Silverado is one of 1,376 K–12 schools recognized nationwide for an outstanding commitment to supporting whole-child health and wellness.
Healthier Generation’s annual award program recognizes schools for implementing evidence-based policies and practices to support academic success and lifelong well-being. Schools can be recognized in nine health-related topic areas. Silverado Middle School was awarded in four areas:
- Improving Nutrition & Food Access
- Strengthening Social-Emotional Health & Learning
- Promoting Tobacco-Free Schools
- Increasing Family & Community Engagement
“The Napa Valley Unified School District deeply values the health and wellness of our school community,” said NVUSD Superintendent Dr. Rosanna Mucetti. “This recognition highlights the incredible work at Silverado Middle School and directly reflects NVUSD’s Strategic Plan. By prioritizing student health and wellness, Silverado exemplifies our commitment to building a culture of belonging (Strategy 4) and strengthening student support systems (Strategy 5).”

Established in 1958, Silverado Middle School is a Title I school serving 550 6th–8th graders in Napa. Grounded in its mission - Act with Purpose, Live with Passion, Strive for Progress - Silverado celebrates a rich, multicultural community. Students benefit from comprehensive academics and signature programs, including AVID, Youth Cinema Project, Ballet Folklórico and Mariposa, music, art, and hands-on outdoor learning.
