Welcome Back for Parents 2025-2026

NVUSD

Dear NVUSD Families,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! I hope your summer was restful, joyful, and filled with moments that allowed you to recharge and reconnect with the people and activities you love.

This summer, while preparing for a phenomenal, future-focused 2025-26 school year, I also had the privilege of serving on several state-wide and national committees and boards. These experiences profoundly deepened my understanding of the critical role strong connections and advocacy play in championing public education, and I am eager to integrate these valuable insights back into NVUSD. This renewed perspective is especially encouraging as NVUSD enters this school year with momentum and optimism, despite the challenges public education is facing across the country.

In June, our Board of Trustees adopted a balanced budget, and our summer was filled with significant progress across our campuses. Construction projects were completed at eight of our Napa schools, enhancing learning spaces for our students. We’ve already begun planning for the next phase of school modernization, scheduled for summer 2026. Work related to Measure A2 in American Canyon also continued, with progress on Donaldson Way Elementary’s multi-use facility and smaller HVAC and other improvement projects at surrounding schools. We are deeply grateful to the voters in Napa and American Canyon, whose support of Measure A2 and Measure B is allowing us to reimagine and enhance learning environments for students throughout our district.

Summer at NVUSD was also a period of sustained and impactful learning for our students. Our district benefited significantly from the dedication of over 24 interns participating in the Napa Valley Education Foundation's (NVEF) Summer Internship Program, whose work supported various NVUSD departments. Concurrently, students engaged in enriching experiences through programs such as Summer Scholars (a component of NVUSD’s Expanded Learning Opportunity Program), Aim High, and Extended School Year (ESY). These programs went beyond traditional academics, fostering essential traits like confidence, intellectual curiosity, and a strong sense of community among our young learners.

As we begin this new year, I remain deeply committed to NVUSD’s Vision: Our graduates are confident, compassionate, and adaptable adults who are well-prepared for life and become inspiring advocates for themselves and their community.

I look forward to joining you as we continuously improve our students’ educational experiences in NVUSD. We eagerly anticipate seeing all our staff and students on the first day of school, August 13th! Until then, enjoy the final days of summer!

Sincerely,

Signature of Dr. Rosanna Mucetti
