Dear NVUSD Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year!

I hope you and your family had a wonderful summer. As we launch this new academic year, NVUSD begins with extraordinary momentum, deep gratitude, and great optimism for what our students will accomplish.

My summer began with a work trip to Chicago, where I joined higher education leaders from across the nation to present on NVUSD’s first year as the national pilot district for the STARS College Network. It was an incredible opportunity to highlight how we are opening doors to selective four-year universities for our students. You can learn more about our first year of impact here.

Expanding college access is a vital part of our mission, but true "future readiness" requires a dual focus: preparing students for higher education and the modern workforce. We are equally excited about our robust career readiness programs, including 13 specialized CTE pathways across our high schools and hands-on, state-of-the-art learning at our new Agricultural & Culinary Innovation Student Center adjacent to Vintage High School.

Throughout the summer, our campuses were alive with progress.

Measure B construction projects took place at 17 sites across the district (see photos and videos on our Facebook and Instagram pages!), and after four years of focused collaboration, the Measure A2 modernization program in American Canyon is nearly complete. These remarkable improvements would not be possible without the generosity and trust of our community. We are deeply grateful to the voters of Napa and American Canyon for supporting Measure A2 and Measure B, which continue to modernize learning environments for our students and staff.

Despite the ongoing financial challenges facing public education statewide, NVUSD remains on solid ground. In June, our Board of Trustees adopted a balanced budget, reflecting our commitment to long-term stability and responsible fiscal stewardship.

Summer was also a season of deep learning and partnership. Beyond the facility improvements occurring this summer, over 26 student interns participated in the Napa Valley Education Foundation's Summer Internship Program, gaining real-world experience in NVUSD departments like Human Resources, Transportation, NOSH Child Nutrition, and Technology. Hundreds of students also engaged in Summer Scholars, Aim High, Valdés Math, and Extended School Year (ESY) programs—building academic confidence, curiosity, and a strong sense of belonging.

While many of these programs benefit our older students, we are making an equally transformative impact on our youngest learners. This year, Transitional Kindergarten (TK) enrollment reached 654 students—surpassing projections by 100 students and marking an 18% increase over last year. Early childhood education sets the foundation for lifelong success, and we are thrilled to welcome more families into NVUSD earlier to foster both academic and social-emotional growth.

As we step into this new school year together, I remain deeply grounded in our shared vision for every NVUSD student:
