Trustee Ryser's dedication to NVUSD stems from a deep personal connection. As a parent whose children attended NVUSD from kindergarten through 12th grade, she understands firsthand the importance of a high-quality education. Prior to her service on the Board, Trustee Ryser's career included 15 years as a public elementary school teacher and five years as an education research specialist and curriculum developer at UC Berkeley. This valuable experience, combined with her prior service on the Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council and the Napa High School Site Council, provides her with a unique perspective. Trustee Ryser holds a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University, a multiple-subject teaching credential, and an M.A. in Education from Mills College. Beyond her Board duties, Trustee Ryser dedicates time to gun violence prevention advocacy within the community and at the state and federal level with organizations like Moms Demand Action. She was elected to the Board of Education in December 2020.
