Trustee Ryser hopes to give back to her community by giving her time and talents to the school system that educated her oldest daughter, Kindergarten through 12th grade, and that is currently educating her youngest daughter, a Junior. Trustee Ryser worked for 15 years as a public elementary school teacher and five years as an education research specialist/curriculum developer at U.C. Berkeley. After three years serving on the Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council, as well as a year on the Napa High School Site Council, Trustee Ryser felt the perspective she gained from her previous work combined with the strengths exhibited by the existing board, would result in a powerful, collaborative environment centered on making the NVUSD student educational experience the best it could be. Trustee Ryser has a bachelor's from Northwestern University and a multiple-subject clear Teaching Credential and M.A. in Education from Mills College. She has volunteered regularly at local NVUSD schools as well as with Napa Valley Moms Demand Action. She began her role as a Board of Education Trustee in December 2020.
