How to Request Resources from the School Site Council (SSC)

  1. Key Tips for Submitting Requests
    • Base Requests on Data: Always connect requests to clear metrics such as ELPAC scores, iReady results, attendance, or reclassification rates.
    • Align with Strategic Goals: Link requests directly to SPSA and LCAP priorities, such as Goal 1 (Academic Performance) or Goal 2 (School Climate).
    • Be Specific: Avoid general requests for "more support". Request clear deliverables, such as "30 minutes daily of designated ELD with a certified teacher".
    • Document in Writing: Submit formal written requests and ensure they are recorded in official ELAC meeting minutes.
    • Follow Up: Contact your DELAC representative if the SSC does not respond within 30 days.
  2. Eligible Resource Request Categories
    • Staffing: EL Interventionists, Designated ELD Teachers, Bilingual Aides, and Family Liaisons.
    • Programs: After-school tutoring, Long-Term English Learner (LTEL) summer programs, and parent engagement courses (such as PIQE or Latino Literacy).
    • Materials: Leveled Spanish and English books, Lexia software, Imagine Learning programs, and visual dictionaries.
    • Training: Professional development for educators in SDAIE strategies, integrated ELD, and newcomer instruction.
    • Technology: Student Chromebooks and family internet hotspots.
    • Translation & Interpretation: Professional meeting interpreters, translated documents, and captioned video resources.
    • Social-Emotional Services: Bilingual counselors and specialized support groups for newcomer students.
