Staff Spotlight: Jacqueline Cervantes Ceja

Jacqueline Cervantes Ceja has been part of the NVUSD team for seven years, serving students each day as a school bus driver. In her role, she helps ensure students arrive safely at school and return home, playing an important part in the daily rhythm of the district and the care of its students.

Jacqueline describes her work with honesty and heart. “Driving a bus can be exciting at times and stressful at other times, but I love my job,” she shares. For her, the most meaningful part of the work comes from the people she serves and the relationships she builds along the way.

She especially values the opportunity to support students in Special Education programs and the strong connections she has with their aides and her fellow coworkers. “I love working with Special Education students, their aides, and my coworkers,” Jacqueline says, highlighting the sense of teamwork and purpose that keeps her passionate about her work each day.

What was one of your first jobs that you remember fondly and why?

Being a machine operator. I enjoyed the challenge of setting up the machines, changing the big knives and being able to fix the machine.

What is your favorite hobby or pastime?

Spending time with my kids and traveling even if we don't have much money.

 

Tell us about a time you set a challenging goal for yourself and how you accomplished it?

Driving the big 40 foot bus and doing field trips. 

 

What motivates you to do your best?

The students and my own children.

 

What three (3) historical individuals (living or dead) or fictional characters (from books, TV, movies, etc.) would you most like to have dinner with?

Cesar Chavez, Pancho illa, Emiliano Zapata

 

What is one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?

I would love to have a better education.
