Staff Spotlight: Lourdes Caravantes

Lourdes Caravantes has dedicated 35 years to serving students in NVUSD, building lasting relationships with generations of families along the way. Her long tenure reflects a deep commitment to supporting young people during some of their most important years.

When asked how she would describe her job to someone unfamiliar with schools, Lourdes offers a simple and thoughtful explanation. She sees herself as a provider of emotional support and a life coach for middle school students, helping guide them through the challenges and growth that come with adolescence.

One of the most meaningful parts of her work today is seeing the district come full circle. “What excites me most about my job is working with children of former students,” Lourdes shares, a reminder of the lasting impact educators can have across generations.

What was one of your first jobs that you remember fondly and why?

Working at Silverado Middle School has been my favorite place to work!!

 

What is your favorite hobby or pastime?

Cooking, shopping and crafts. 

 

Tell us about a time you set a challenging goal for yourself and how you accomplished it?

I have had many challenges through the years and my family and faith always gets me through.

 

What motivates you to do your best?

My commitment to my students and their families.

 

What three (3) historical individuals (living or dead) or fictional characters (from books, TV, movies, etc.) would you most like to have dinner with?

I only have one invitee: Jesus Christ 

 

What is one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?

My age (lol).

2, 6, and 7-  everything starts with trust and relationship building,  once you achieve this with students they will hopefully make decisions that will help them to grow and achieve their goals.
