Preparing for Wildfires, Power Shutoffs and Unhealthy Air Quality

During wildfire season, it is important to ensure that you and your loved ones are prepared in case of an emergency. Here's a list of things you can do to be better prepared:

Napa County staff has been working diligently on enhancing preparedness for future emergencies through the use of

  • fire watch cameras to monitor activity across the region
  • evacuation tags to help first-responders identify evacuated homes (call the Sheriff’s Office at 707-253-4509 to obtain one)
  • new emergency sirens on deputy vehicles, also known as "hi-lo" sirens
  • creating evacuation routes for the areas with the most fire danger
  • increased vegetation management
  • response plan for PG&E's power shutoffs

NVUSD will work with Napa County police, sheriff, fire and health departments to provide air quality guidelines to families for outdoor activities and/or school closures.
