Summer Reading 2020

it’s time for summer reading!

Reading during summer break is one of the most important activities your student can do. Exercising their brains every day with reading helps students retain learning from the previous year and keeps them ready to learn new things in the next school year. PLUS it’s easy, it’s free, and it’s fun!

This year NVUSD is partnering with the Napa County Library to bring you Dig Deeper, Read! a fun and easy way to keep track of your reading activity over the summer break. You can even earn prizes!

Two Ways to Participate!
Online

Track your reading with the online app

Sign up at napalibrary.org/sla and record your reading time on your device.

On paper

Track your reading time with a paper log

Print your own English pdf - Spanish pdf

Pick one up at an NVUSD Food Distribution site or at an NCL branch (curbside or when libraries reopen).

If you don’t have a printer or a way to pick up a paper log, NCL can mail one to you…just call 707-253-4241.

What should you read?

The best thing about summer is you can read whatever you want!

Read a book your teacher suggested or something fun you picked yourself. Listening to reading counts too so don’t forget about audiobooks or have a sibling read aloud and both students can count the time!

Find great books to read and listen to on Sora, Tumblebooks, and Hoopla without ever leaving your house!

The first time you use Hoopla you will need to create an account.

You will provide an email address and create a password. This login info can then be used to access your Hoopla titles via any device.

Select Napa County Library (search if necessary).

Login in with your library card, a.k.a. OneCard and PIN.

OneCard= "nvusd+your 6 digit ID number" E.g. "nvusd321456"

PIN= the last 4 digits of the primary phone number in your school district contact info provided by your parent/guardian at the beginning of the year. *

*If none of the PINs you try works, contact the Napa County Library 707-253-4241.

Your OneCard will give you access to children's and young adult titles. To gain access to additional titles you will need to use a full service public library card.
