Day 1

Target Audience:  General Education Teachers and Administrators

  • process for eligibility for special education (how to meet criteria)
  • disability specific awareness and education
  • legal responsibilities for the general education teacher (and how to meet them without causing insanity)
  • career pathways for students who are leaving the K-12 system

Day 2

Target Audience:  General Education Teachers and Administrators

  • strategies to support behaviors that are impeding learning in the general education environment
  • what accommodations and modifications really mean
  • roundtable discussion to explore how the special education department can continue to support teachers

Day 3

Target Audience:  Special Education Teachers

On Day 3, we will be

  • break into job alike groups (elementary mild/moderate, middle school mild/moderate, high school mild/moderate and functional skills) to dive deep into the math curriculum
  • strategies and supports for behavior that impedes learning

Day 4

Target Audience:  Special Education Teachers

  • break into job alike groups (elementary mild/moderate, middle school mild/moderate, high school mild/moderate and functional skills) to dive deep into the English Language Arts curriculum

Day 5

Target Audience:  Special Education Teachers

  • compliance
  • SEIS 
  • IEP meetings
  • how to build positive relationships with the adults we interact with each day

Annual SELPA CAC Inclusion Awards

The Napa County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) Community Advisory Committee (CAC) annually presents Inclusion Awards to teachers and other educators who have made a significant contribution toward the inclusion of special education students in their school communities.

 

SELPA hosts a student poster contest and presents the Inclusion Award recipients with one of the winning posters as their award.
