Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Early TK (ETK)

Transitional Kindergarten

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is for children who turn 5 after the September 1 birthdate cutoff requirement for kindergarten placement.

TK is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program. From TK, students progress to kindergarten the following school year. The eligibility for TK is based upon California State guidelines, for children who turn 5 from September 2 to December 2.

Register for TK at your resident home school during the Registration time frame (usually begins in October). If TK is offered at your home school you will be given priority, if it is not, you will be placed at a nearby school.

*If you choose to Open Enroll at one of our Magnet Schools: Bel Aire, Napa Junction, Phillips, Pueblo Vista (Dual Immersion) and Willow, please understand that this is a commitment through 5th grade. All other TK placements are only for the TK year.

Transportation is not provided for any TK student.
